Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) works in harmony with all the
components of the International Movement of Red Cross and Red
Crescent; the International Federation of Red Cross and Red
Crescent (IFRC), the International Committee of the Red Cross
(ICRC) and the National RC/RC societies.
ERC enjoys observer status in the Economic and Social Council
(ECOSOC) of the United Nations as well as the African ECOSOC.
Strong relationship exists between the ERC and the United
Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), World Health Organization (WHO),
Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Food Programme
(WFP), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) andUnited Nations
Development Programme(UNDP) in various health and food security
issues.
It also has strong relationships with the United Nations Office
for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the United
Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNCHR), International
Organization for Migration (IOM) and other relevant UN
organizations in disaster or migration issues.
ERC also cooperates with several regional and international
governmental and non-governmental institutions in the execution of
its projects e.g. (U.S. Agency for International Development
(USAID), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), The Swedish
International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), Safe the
Children, Caritas, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), etc..
At the national level, activities of ERC are coordinated with
governmental authorities at the central or the field level
especially in social development, health and disaster management
components.
