HCID conference discussed threats of health care in the region and measures to enhance security of emergency health care.
The conference was inaugurated by Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Hisham Atta, ERC Secretary General Prof. Moemena Kamel and the head of the ICRC delegation in Cairo Marianne Gasser.
The event was attended by members from the International Red Crescent and Red Cross Movement, as well as academicians and experts from Médecins sans Frontières (MSF), and the World Health Organization (WHO), representatives from the Egyptian authorities, foreign embassies, medical institutions and faculties.
In 2011, the ICRC launched "Health Care in Danger" project, which aims at confronting insecurity, violence and threats that undermine the safe and effective delivery of health care in armed conflicts and other emergencies.
